Santiago Rodriguez

SANTIAGO RODRIGUEZ Age 88, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Hemet Valley Medical Center in Hemet, CA. He was born in Zacatecas, Mexico. While working in the barcero program he met his future wife Erlinda then relocated to Hemet in 1957. His family lived in Diamond Valley located on Searl's Brothers Ranch where he was know as Jimmy and worked as a vaquero. In 1968 after the demise of the cattle industry, he left Diamond Valley for down town Hemet purchasing a home next door to Hemet Mayor White. He joined the Laborer's Union retiring after 20 years of membership. His interests included hosting frequent family gatherings where he cooked his famous pit BBQ's that he learned to prepare from Angel Alvarez. Santiago was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Erlinda Rodriguez, daughter, baby Norma, and is survived by his; sons, Jaime Rodriguez of Juniper Flats and Santiago "Chago" Rodriguez Jr. of Riverside; daughters, Erlinda Towler of Winchester, Rosa Doig of Dallas, Oregon, Marie (Lena) Butler of Hemet and Virginia Lopez, of Winchester. He enjoyed and loved very much his 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
