Shannon Marie Gomez of Hemet, CA passed away Wednesday January 12, 2022 from various health issues at Hemet Hospital. She was 46. Her husband Matthew Lawrence Gomez, also of Hemet, was by her side when she passed. Shannon was born April 15, 1975 to Robert Allen Jones and Deborah Kay Pollard. She is also survived by her stepmother Gerrilyn Jones.
Shannon was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt and family member in general. Her kind and caring heart extended to so many family members and friends as well as her pets over the years. She was an avid lover of animals, to which she used her love and respect of them to help teach and guide her children and grandchildren through many aspects of life. She never knew a stray she didn’t love.
Shannon was also an amazing artist and lover of music, and although far too few, she left behind various examples of her talent. Once again, like pets, she used her love of art to interact, teach and guide her children over the years. Those of us who were fortunate enough to hear her sing will forever remember the beauty of her voice and melodies.
Above all, in addition to her loving, caring ways, Shannon was, in her own way, a fighter who never gave up on her family, friends and loved ones. Even after many trials and tribulations she endured in her life, she never quit until her body prevented her from carrying on in this world. Rest assured she continues her journey, free of pain, in that place of her heart to be reunited with past family and friends while she waits for and watches over the rest of us.
Shannon is survived by her loving husband, Matthew. Shannon and Matthew were together for 27 years and married for 25.
Shannon is also survived by 2 sons, Bryan Gomez (wife Kelsey, children Lillia and Aria) Jacob Gomez, sister Shelly Jones (children Dylan, Christian and Hannah) aunt Beverly "Bev" Jones LaRock, mother-in-law Gloria Gomez, sister-in-laws Rene Mijes (husband Miguel, children Christopher and Joseph) and Lisa Serna (husband Steve, children Stevie, Alyssa, Joey and Daniel); brother-in-laws Gregg Gomez (wife Sadie, children (Gabriel, Giselle, and Raquel), and Jason Gomez, as well as many nieces and nephews.
To paraphrase a line from the very first movie Shannon and Matthew ever saw together...
“It's funny. Little things used to mean so much to her. I used to think they were kind of trivial. Believe me...nothing is trivial.”
Such was the life they had together in this world. From the love they have for each other and their sons, their family, their lives together to small, simple yet no less meaningful expressions of that love which happened more often than not. Flowers from Matt to Shannon with a card and the words “Just because.” written inside, to voice messages from Shannon to Matt to say “I just wanted to hear your voice. I love you.”.....nothing was trivial.
Nothing is trivial.
Shannon will be Forever in Our Hearts…
"Sissy La La, missing you so bad...loving you so much...thinking of the days we shared...knowing you are in our Kingdom up above, makes me feel much better, I will someday see your face."--- Shelly (sister)
"Daughter, I love you so very much...we spent so much time together and now that’s gone, at least here on Earth but we will have it in Heaven."--- Debbie (mother)
