

Shirley Ann Leonard died at her home in Hemet on July 12, 2011 surrounded by her family. She was 80. Mrs. Leonard was born on December 15, 1930 in Orange and raised in Riverside. She attended Magnolia Elementary School, Central Junior High, and graduated from Poly High in 1949. After she married her husband of 60 years, Marvin Leonard, she raised a family and lived in California, Oregon, and Connecticut, where she spent many happy years collecting antiques and filling her home with art, taking care of her many pets, and spending time with her family. She was known and loved for her wit, generous spirit, and kind heart. She is survived by her husband, Marvin Leonard; two daughters, Jennifer Sijmons and Cristin Wills; two grandchildren, Madeleine Wills and Robin Wills. She is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many long-time friends that she has known since childhood. In addition to her parents, William and Verna Maloney, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Eric Leonard, and her siblings: Marian Ryan and Gordon Maloney. Services will be held at Miller-Jones Mortuary, 1501 W. Florida Ave., Hemet, at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 21, 2011. Internment will follow at Riverside National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations go to the Ramona Humane Society.
