Susan Parker

She was born to Jessie Minor and the late Jim Minor on June 26th, 1948, in Hemet, CA. Susan graduated from Hemet Union High School in 1966 and later became a Family Nurse Practitioner earning her degree from Stanford University. She married her high school sweetheart the late Zane Parker who was killed in a helicopter crash in 1994. Together they ran a cattle ranch in Billings, Montana, before relocating to Temecula, CA in 1985.

Susan was a Family Nurse Practitioner for Scripps Hospital in La Jolla. She specialized in Cardiology and Women's Health Care. Susan was very passionate about helping her patients before retiring in 2001, when she was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. She has fought a long and hard battle with lung cancer for over 10 years.

Susan was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed walking her Jack Russell Terrier, "Ace" in her small beach community of Carlsbad, and greeting other neighbors along the way. Susan also enjoyed traveling, the Del Mar horse races and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Susan is survived by her mother, Jessie Minor, four children: Zane Parker Jr. of Vista, Heidi Hughes married to William Hughes of Hemet, Heather Piombo married to Daniel Piombo of San Rafael, CA and Molly DeVries married to Robert DeVries of Denver, CO. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren, Austin, Zayna, Kortney, Owen, Parker, Laurel, Anna and 1 great-grandchild, Riley. Susan is also survived by her beloved siblings, Larry Minor, married to Sandy of Hemet, Wayne Minor, married to Carol of Hemet and her sister Janice Robertson married to Richard of Utah and many beloved close friends who will truly miss her.

The family is requesting that donations be made to Vitas Hospice Care or the American Cancer Society.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints, 425 N. Kirby, Hemet, CA, at 10:00am. Interment to follow at San Jacinto Valley Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Miller-Jones Mortuary.
