Tobias Cortez

Tobias Cortez Deniz, age 59, of Hemet, California passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022. Tobias was born on Sunday, January 13, 1963 in Pihuamo, Jalisco, Mexico. He was the son of the late Guadalupe Cortez Perez and the late Celedonia Deniz Tovar. Tobias was a landscaper for over 40 years working in the Hemet and San Jacinto area. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Guadalupe Cortez, Jose Cortez, Rafael Cortez and Gabriel Cortez.

Tobias was a die hard Chivas de Guadalajara fan. He was a soccer player and never missed a game. He enjoyed his afternoons laying in his maca with his dogs. You could hear his laugh or his “Ahooga” from his Chaca, a mile away. He loved having get togethers and drinking his Coors Light. And on Sunday mornings he enjoyed his leche caliente.

He Is survived by his wife June Cortez, his children Joseph Cortez, Diana Elizabeth Cortez, his siblings Maria Cortez, Jesus Cortez, Acencion Cortez, Teresa Cortez, Socorro Cortez, Ramona Cortez and Miguel Cortez. Many nieces and nephews. And his grand nieces and nephews: Irie – “Panuncia,” Daniel – “Toñin,” Kaya – “Rafaela,” Jackson – “Sancho,” Anthony – “Anthony Flores,” Orion – “El Betin,” Brandon – “Sancho Segundo,” Maddy – “La Gabela,” Adelina – “Mi Pobre Corazon,” Dahlia – “La Hawaiiana,” y Mateo – “El Guero.”

His passing was unexpected and heartbreaking but he wanted everyone to celebrate his life, not his death. We will miss him so much but we have our memories to treasure forever. “¡Arriba Las Chivas!”
