Mr. Johnson was my Biology teacher in 1965 in my Sophomore year, then my Advanced Biology teacher in my junior year. He was my favorite teacher of all time. He related to his students and made himself available to talk if we needed help with anything. I’m 74 now and will never forget his kindness.

My condolences to you all. Mr. Johnson was my Cellular Biology teacher and I have great memories of his class. He was an excellent educator and mentor. His students will honor him with our great memories.

I had the honor of having Mr. Johnson for Physiology my junior year at Marina High School. I learned some valuable life lessons from Mr. Johnson. First and foremost any student who ever had him must remember,"Good manners don't cost a dime." words to live by taught by a man who cared about his students. He was one of those teacher that you never forget. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, may he rest in peace.

Mr. Johnson was a kind, kind man. I was Marina '87, and had him as a teacher for my senior year. I had worked all four years to be a Distinguished Scholar, and one of the criteria was no more than 8 Cs total. I never understood science, and "saved" my 8 Cs specifically for science. During the last semester, despite all my efforts...I earned a D in Mr. Johnson's class. I went to talk to him, tears in my eyes. He said, "This is going to cause trouble at home, isn't it?" When I couldn't answer through my tears. he sat me down, assigned me extra credit, and I ended up with a C-. I'll never forget his kindness. He knew I had tried my best - I used to come in early to try and understand what he was teaching, but I just couldn't get it!

While I never had Mr. Johnson as a teacher, he was my swim coach for two years. He was a very nice person who really took an interest in his students. He encouraged me to take a camp counselor job the summer of 1983, my first job ever~

Mr. Johnson was a great teacher. I had him at Marina for Anatomy & Physiology (Class on '77). Started off my senior year with mono so I missed the first 6 weeks of his class. He thought I had missed too much to catch up but I wanted the challenge so he let me try. I really wanted to prove to him that I could do it so I made sure I had the top grade. I always appreciated his help, his encouragement and the fact that he gave me a chance to succeed and graduate on time. 
My thoughts and prayers go out for your family as you learn now how to navigate life without him. I'm sure he will be missed. He was a great man and a great teacher.

Wayne Johnson was my first Biology teacher (Marina High School, 1984). Over the years he also became my mentor and my friend. My greatest memory with him was in 1996 when I landed my dream job as a Biology professor at Southwestern College. Wayne came down to meet me for lunch. What I didn't know was that he called my department to find out my teaching schedule and he sat in on my class! What a surprise to look out in the auditorium and see him sitting there among my students - just beaming! 
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time. I know he will be missed, but his teachings live on in SO many of us!
