

Bill was born in Cheyenne Wyoming July 31, 1949. He was the fourth of 6 children and is survived by his sister Georgiana Still; his brothers John Paul Schmidt, James Schmidt, John Henry Schmidt and Thomas Schmidt. He has 6 nieces and nephews
He graduated from St. Mary’s high school and played on the state qualifying basketball team. He was an active member of the Atlas Theater group in Cheyenne during Frontier Days and had a summer job as a roughneck on the oil and gas wells in western Wyoming. He then went on to attend college at University of Wyoming where he obtained his Master’s Degree in Cell Biology. He worked as a cell biologist in Buffalo NY then worked at St. Josephs Hospital in CA.
Though he struggled with emotional issues in his adult life, Bill was funny and enjoyed a good practical joke. He was a gentle soul always willing to give a helping hand to those in need. He was a faithful member of St Josephs Catholic church in Orange CA where he attended services regularly.
He joined the Orange County senior center engaging with and making friends with other seniors in the area. He enjoyed watching basketball and was an avid fisherman and outdoor enthusiast in his youth.
