Allan "Scott" Bjork Sr., age 72, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021. He was born November 1, 1948 in Troy, New York to Betty Elizabeth Bjork and Kenneth (Pat) Bjork. Scott was raised in La Puente, California with his older brother, Ken Bjork, and a younger sister, Bonnie La Rue.
As a young boy, Scott participated in the Boy Scouts; and in his spare time he liked collecting baseball cards and slot cars. Scott graduated from Arroyo High School in 1966. He enjoyed school as a whole but his favorite class was Auto Shop.
On June 22, 1968 Scott exchanged wedding vows with Angie Arias at the Saint Joseph Catholic Church of La Puente, California. Over the course of their marriage of over 50 years, the couple were blessed with two sons, Allan and Gregory; and nine grandchildren: Krystle, Anthony, Patrick, Amanda, Amanda, Ashley, AJ, Sabastian, and Alexis.
Scott was a military man and a proud American, who served in the 146 ANG for over 30 years. His sense of duty helped lead him into a life-long career where his understanding of people made him someone who the troops respected. Scott served as a full time technician at the 146th. Where he held the position of warehouse supervisor. Scott was stationed throughout his career in Van Nuys, California and Channel Islands, California. Scott retired as a Master Sergeant in 1997. Even after his discharge from the Air National Guard, Scott continued to be of service. He was a member of EANGUS, VFW Post 3848, the American Legion, and the 146 alumni group. He, along with his wife, truly enjoyed serving as hosts for the 146 alumni.
Scott was a loving husband, father and grandfather; who was devoted to his family; he enjoyed every moment he had with them. Scott loved to have a good time and joke around with people, and always had a smile on his face. He enjoyed his vacations to Laughlin, Boston and Oregon; and attending the National Conference. He also was something of a sports fan and enjoyed watching Football and the Dodgers whenever he got the opportunity. Scott was a dog lover as a young man; he had a boxer named Shotie and Cleo the Dalmatian was his pride and joy after he retired.
Scott did his best to ensure that his family, friends, loved ones, co-workers, and everyone whose life he touched was given the chance to become a better person. He will truly be missed.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth (Pat) Bjork, mother, Betty Elizabeth Bjork; and brother Kenneth Bjork. He is survived by his wife, Angie Bjork; sons: Allan Scott Bjork II (Laura) and Gregory Patrick Bjork (Brandi); and nine grandchildren: Krystle (Anthony), Patrick (Amanda), Amanda, Ashley, AJ, Sabastian, and Alexis; and his sister, Bonnie La Rue.
A visitation for Allan will be held Sunday, April 18, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. A Committal Service with military honors will occur Monday, April 19, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veteran's Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
Due to COVID-19, all government restrictions will be in place, and all guests in attendance will be required to wear a mask.
