

Bella Gomez Wood, age 67, of Henderson, Nevada passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at University Medical Center, in Las Vegas, on Tuesday March 26, 2019. She was born to the late Diomedes and Elisa David Gomez on December 19, 1951 in Anao, Mexico, Pampanga, in the Philippines.
Bella excelled in academics and moved to Manila, where she attended Far Eastern University. She later moved to Angeles City where she worked two jobs, and attended Republic Central College. It was there in Angeles City, she met her loving husband, John. They spent many happy years together and created a network of friends and family around the world. On their 46th wedding anniversary, John held her hand while she was in her hospital bed just eleven days prior to her passing.
After John and Bella were married; Bella became a mother, moved to America, continued her training, and furthered her education. She attained a Bachelor’s degree from University of Maryland. Bella sought employment with the Federal Government, entering as a GS3. She worked for 961st AWACS ( Airborne Warning and Control Systems), NASA, the Department of Justice, and finally Housing and Urban Development. Bella retired after 35 years as a GS-13 Contract Specialist; she truly lived the American Dream.
Bella lived a life full of diverse hobbies and interests. She enjoyed floral arranging, cake decorating, crafts, gardening, yoga, playing the piano, singing karaoke, baking, cooking amazing food, hosting wonderful parties, and was even a real live belly dancer. She generously shared her talents, her love and zest for life with her many friends, family, children, and grandchildren.
Bella was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Carol (Ber) Cruz. She is survived by her husband, John Edward Wood; daughter, Zoey Gomez (Keith) Herrel; son, Fritz Gomez Wood; four grandchildren: Timothy, Ethan, Bailey (Erin) Fiedorowicz, and Mia Rose Herrel; sisters: Alma (Rico) Pineda, Daisy (Perry) Santos, Stephanie (Ron) David, and Grace (Mike) Whyte; brothers: Edwin (Leslie) Gomez and Eric Gomez; along with their many children, grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
The Doctors and Staff at UMC provided excellent medical care with great skill and compassion. We are eternally grateful for the love they showed for her.
A visitation for Bella will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM . A going home celebration will follow at 1:00 PM; both at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015.
