Benito Johnny Gonzales

Benito Johnny Gonzales, age 73, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021. He was born March 23, 1948 in Chama, New Mexico to his parents Benito Gonzales and Frances Montoya. Benito was raised in New Mexico along with his siblings: Moise, Marcella, Orlando, Josie, and Raymond; and graduated from Escalante High School.

On May 31, 1969, Benito married Mary Helen Rivas at St. Peters Catholic Church in Chama, New Mexico. They were immediately blessed with the birth of their daughter, Sofia on June 25, 1969. The young couple relocated their lives to Nevada later that same year, where Benito started working at Stuaffers Chemical. He worked for the company for many years until retiring in 1987.

Benito was a man devoted to his family. He enjoyed spending every moment he could with his daughter; teaching her how to fly a kite, ride a bike, fish, and drive a car; she was his lil tomboy and the center of his world. She would sit by him while he worked under the cars he was fixing handing him tools. As he got older, he was able to spend more time deer hunting and supporting his favorite football team; the Rams.

Benito was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Moise. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary; daughter, Sofia; siblings: Orlando, Raymond, Marcella, and Josie; four grandchildren: Santana, Ashle, Leticia, and Kilmito; and 13 grandchildren: Aiden, Angel, Anaya, Jacob, Ilyana, Eric, Alana, Nathan, Melanie, Ezekiel, Adelyn, Ariel, and Azariah.

Benito was a hardworking man, devoted to his family and his faith. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed life to the fullest. He will truly be missed by those dearest to him.

A visitation with a prayer service for Benito will be held Friday, July 30, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with the prayer service beginning at 6:00 PM at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015.
