Burton was born on December 10, 1936, in Watertown, South Dakota.
Burton served 4 years in the U.S. Navy and had a career in bartending in New York City for 22 years. He worked in Henderson for Culunary Workers Union Local 226 for 26 years, and had a passion for reading, cycling, animals, and humor.
He is preceded in death by one sister- Maryanne McKenna of San Diego, California.
