

Marciano “Butch” Funtila III, age 68, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born on February 5, 1958, in Pasay City, Philippines, Butch lived a life filled with faith, family, friendship, service, and love.
Butch attended Notre Dame University in the Philippines, where he graduated from high school and became a celebrated athlete. As a standout volleyball player, he led his team to one of the school's most memorable championships and earned the nickname “The Bloody Notre Damer.” He later attended the University of Santo Tomas, where he completed three years of studies in Engineering.
On February 18, 1984, Butch married the love of his life, Cely Funtila, beginning a beautiful marriage that spanned more than four decades. Together they built a loving family that became the center of his life and greatest source of pride and joy.
Butch dedicated 28 years of service as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. Known for his strong work ethic, kindness, and friendly spirit, he touched countless lives throughout his career and community.
A devoted Catholic, Butch was a faithful member of the Holy Name Society and the choir at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic church. His faith guided him throughout his life and was reflected in the love, compassion, and generosity he showed to others.
Butch had many passions that brought joy to both him and those around him. He loved gardening, singing, sports, camping, bowling, karaoke, and watching movies. He was a loyal Raiders fan who rarely missed the opportunity to cheer on his favorite team. Sharing stories around a campsite, singing his favorite songs, tending to his garden, or spending time with family and friends, Butch embraced every moment with enthusiasm and gratitude.
What truly set Butch apart was his extraordinary ability to connect with people. He was a loving friend to many and was blessed with countless friendships throughout his life. His warm smile, infectious laughter, and vibrant personality could light up any room he entered. He was generous, and always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Above all, he loved his family deeply and cherished every opportunity to be surrounded by those he loved.
Butch was preceded in death by his daughter, Erika D. Funtila, and his father, Marciano G. Funtila Jr.
He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Cely Funtila; his mother, Estella Costello; his sons, Alexis Funtila, Dennis Funtila, and Franklin Funtila; his daughters-in-law, Khei Anne Funtila and Brittany Funtila; and his beloved grandchildren, Janelle, Preston, DJ, Peyton, Penelope, Jeremiah, Parker, and Ronnie. He also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, fellow parishioners, and loved ones who will forever cherish his memory.
Though his presence will be deeply missed, Butch's legacy of faith, love, friendship, generosity, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and he will be loved and remembered always.
