

Carl Franklin Overy, passed away peacefully at Nathan Adelson Hospice, June 27, 2024, holding the hands of wife Jane, the love of his life, and son Scott & wife Sharon by his side. At age 88, Carl had fought a long heroic battle suffering with Asbestosis. His legacy will live on in so many ways.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Gail Overy. Born in Ohio in 1935, his family settled in Grafton, Ohio, where Carl's father built the family home. he met and married wife Jane from Kansas. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Two of his most interesting assignments were at Top Secret locations overseas as an air born radio operator and computer programming .
Carl left the Air Force and was hired by IBM as a Scientific Computer Programmer in Huntsville, Ala. At IBM's Space System Center, he along with IBM team members, wrote programs for Apollo missions, including the "First Lunar Landing of Mankind, 1969." Promoted to Manager of the IBM CDC 6600 'STRETCH' Computer Control Room. Over the 14 years he was with IBM Carl received many awards
Carl and his wife Jane were residents of Searchlight for 40 years where they were surrounded by many friends.

Services: Palm Mortuary & Cemetery; Boulder Hwy. July 19, 2024, AM 9:00 - 10:00 Visitation; Service 10:00. Travel to Veterans Cemetery Boulder City. Veterans Service 12 Noon to 12:30 PM, followed by grave site burial.
