Carol Rodgers Austin, 75, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away after a valiant struggle from the effects of COVID-19. She was the beloved wife of Ron Faltinsky for 29 years. Born on August 18, 1946, to Sherman H. and Rachel R. Austin, Carol grew up in a musical family in Monroe, CT. After moving to New York City, where she joined the Manhattan Chapter of Sweet Adelines, she carried the joy of singing barbershop harmony across the country to California, singing and competing on the international stage with Verdugo Hills and Harborlites Chapters and regionally with several quartets. A paralegal in the business world, Carol worked with a corporate office in New York prior to law offices in Los Angeles and then struck out on her own, creating the successful employment agency, Professional Woman, matching paralegal assistants with the best-suited law offices. Carol was very loving and cared deeply for her many friends. Her most intense passion was her spiritual journey of discovery by studying and applying the works of L. Ron Hubbard. Carol was honored by her Women’s Auxiliary for organizing the baking and shipping of thousands of cookies to our servicemen in Afghanistan. She also loved to crochet and helped create hundreds of baby blankets and hats for disadvantaged children and premies in hospitals. Always very creative, Carol worked in many mediums. She made high-end fused-glass art pieces, delicate clay jewelry, pottery, and even furniture. Carol was an accomplished oil painter with art in several galleries in both California and Nevada and won several artistic awards. A gourmet cook as well, she enjoyed entertaining friends and family. Predeceased by her parents and brother, Sherman Wesley Austin, she is survived by her loving husband, Ron Faltinsky; sister, Shelby Austin Zold; two brothers-in-law and their families; a sister-in-law and numerous treasured nieces and nephews.
