2024, in Tualatin, OR. Cecelia was born on October 28, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her
parents are Margaret and Harold Freestone. She was raised by her Grandparents, Carl and
Anna Young, up to the age of 12. She described this time as her best childhood years. Like
many children, she wanted her mother and decided to live with her and her stepfather. This
did not work out, so she moved into her father and stepmother’s home. Her childhood
experiences with her parents were challenging and many children would have been broken,
but what she endured only served to make her stronger. Her early life challenges and her
ability to cope with courage and fortitude would serve her the rest of her life. Her early
upbringing in the Roman Catholic faith passed on from her grandparents was an important part
of her development in virtues to become a successful wife, mother, nurse, and finally caregiver
to her beloved lifetime spouse of 57 years.
Cecelia and Paul M. Fulton married on Jan 17, 1956 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They
were very much in love, and had five children. Cecelia attended Navarro Community College in
Corsicana, TX. Cecelia was a faithful, supportive wife and a wonderful mother. She worked in
various hospitals, clinics and nursing homes during her nursing career, but her favorite was her
work with the Nuns at Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX. She encouraged her children to
seek occupations that were service oriented and as it happened, all five children had service
oriented careers. Three of the five served in the U.S. military, following their father’s example,
who served in three wars.
She loved baking and crocheting. She was fearless in trying out new things, such as
crafting, wallpapering, ear piercing and sewing clothes. She loved movies like “The Song of
Bernadette” which was her favorite Saint along with St. Joseph. She loved to sing and make
up songs as she worked. She loved to play pinnacle and various other games with the family.
She also loved animals and allowed the family to always have a pet growing up to include
dogs, cats, a rabbit, fish and parakeets. She was known to pick up strays and bring them
home as well.
Cecelia was proceeded in death by Paul M Fulton, spouse and her first son, Steven P
Fulton. She is survived by her daughters Cheryl Fulton-Henderson, Catherine Fulton Farris,
Diana Fulton Berger, and her son, Reverend Fr. David Fulton, FSSPX. She has six
grandchildren: Michael, Rachel, Mathew, John, Stephanie, Sara, and five great grandchildren:
Theodore, Isaac, Emma, Elizabeth, and one baby arriving in October.
Cecelia lived a full and meaningful life serving others. She brought love into many
peoples’ lives and made the world a better place. She will always be in our hearts.
