Chad was born in Palm Springs, California, on May 31, 1974. As a young boy, he loved Cub Scouts. Even though he wasn’t old enough, he would put on a blue shirt every Tuesday with pinned on Cub Scout patches that he had drawn on paper so he could be like his big brother and the other boys in the Cub Scout den.
Skateboarding was a favorite past time. He used empty pools and built his own skate ramp. Chad received many scars as he tried to master each skateboard trick.
As a student at Indio High School, Chad enjoyed playing basketball and water polo as well as being in drama, art, ceramics, and photography classes. He loved creating art—pencils, pens, pastels, paint… He loved it all and filled many sketchpads with his intricate drawings. Any blank surface was a canvas for Chad. One night, he decided to paint his bedroom door with beautiful colors and designs, including a portrait of Jesus. He was hoping that the portrait would keep his parents from being upset about the painted door. Participating in a student photography event led to one of his photos being displayed in the Palm Springs Museum.
Chad spent some time working as an after-school care team member at Marywood Country Day School. After high school graduation, Chad took classes at College of the Desert. Along with his photography classes, he also enrolled in early childhood courses. With these courses, he became a teacher’s assistant in Marywood’s preschool program. Chad was amazing with the kids. He always kept the children entertained with his crazy songs and dances.
In 1999, Chad moved to Las Vegas and worked at Costco and worked at The Las Vegas Country Club for several years.
Chad had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh, frequently entertaining others with his hilarious stories. He and his sister used to joke about writing crazy children’s books together. He was endlessly creative.
Chad loved his family, and his son, Noah, was the greatest joy of his life.
Chad’s baby boys, Braden, Tuffy, and Chad Douglas, were waiting for him in Heaven along with his maternal grandparents, Jack and Helen Brown; his paternal grandparents, Charles and June Leany; his Anya Kathy Brown; his Anya Shelley Palestis; and his Uncle Kevin Leany.
Chad leaves behind his son, Noah; Noah’s mom, Shasta Rich; his parents, Doug and Jackie Leany; his older brother, Brian Leany (Lorraine Benuto); his younger sister Cyndi Leany; aunts, uncles, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews
