Charles (Chuck) Mitchell Booker, age 88, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2025. Chuck was born in Severn, Maryland, on December 4, 1936, to Marcus T. and Dorothy Booker. He graduated from Arundel High School with honors in 1955.
After high school, Chuck enlisted in the US Navy. He attended junior college in Pensacola, Florida, and graduated with honors, a member of the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society. During his Navy career, he served two tours in Vietnam and achieved the title of Chief Warrant Officer 3. Upon his retirement from the Navy ship Durham, he was saluted by all on board.
Chuck married the love of his life, Diane, and together they shared 50 happy years together (even though the pastor at their marriage ceremony told them it would only last 6 months!). To counter this, they celebrated their anniversary every 6 months!! Chuck and Diane spent many years traveling in their motorhome, seeing all the sights of the United States and visiting with friends.
Chuck worked in several casinos upon moving to the Las Vegas area. Finally settling in Henderson, he joined the City of Henderson and worked for 10 years as a Maintenance Engineer, specializing in AC systems.
Chuck was an avid golfer and you could find him every Tuesday and Thursday at the Boulder City Muni Golf Course. On his garage is a sign "If I'm not here, I'm on the back nine"
One of the great satisfactions of his life was being involved as the President of the River Mountain Ranch Estates Homeowners' Association where he led the neighborhood in many projects to keep it a rural preservative area. Chuck lived his life to the fullest, served his country and community proud, and will truly be missed.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Diane. He is survived by three nieces: Karen Reolle (Idaho), Barbara Apodaca (California), and Karen Stephenson (Maryland); and a goddaughter, Deanna Shave (Florida).
A military honors service for Chuck will be at 12:40 pm, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City Nevada.
