Chris was born on July 26, 1972 in Columbia, SC to Elizabeth Ann and Philip Freeman. He attended Airport High School and went to the University of South Carolina. He eventually realized that college was not for him and soon joined the Southeastern Freight Lines Billing Department. Being influenced by his mom’s working with computers and software, Chris started his lifelong interest in computers.
Chris and Amy got acquainted over the Internet and soon were quite serious to the surprise of both families: one Southern Gentleman and one Northern Lady. The wedding got scheduled and was held on the other end of the country in Seattle. They were married on September 12, 1998, honeymooned on the Oregon Coast and then returned to, and bought a house in Columbia where they began their life together.
Chris continued to hone his skills and his work attitude was recognized by his supervisors. After several more years SEFL management realized he was the best candidate for managing the new Western Billing Center they wanted to open in Las Vegas. So Chris and Amy packed up and moved from the Deep South to the deserts of Nevada. Management’s decision turned out to be good for both the company and for Chris. Chris managed the growth from a staff of 1 to about 100.
The Freeman family also expanded when Kaylee was born in 2005. Their different work schedules determined that Chris ran the morning shift and he soon learned how to get Kaylee dressed and off to daycare, how to brush and fix her hair, prepare breakfast, and pack her lunch for school. They were a real team. Chris and family loved to travel to Disneyland , Disney World, New York, National Parks, and several Caribbean cruises.
Chris is survived by his wife, Amy; daughter, Kaylee; mother, Elizabeth Ann; sisters, Amanda and Tara; and Amy’s parents, Rick and Cindy.
Chris impacted all of us who knew him and he will be in our hearts forever.
