

Cora graduated from Withrow High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. After graduating from high school, Cora enlisted in the United States Marine Corps (during the Vietnam War Era from 1966-1969). Cora's initial Marine Corps training was at Parris Island, South Carolina. She was permanently stationed in San Diego, California. While there she worked in an administrative capacity. She was there until her discharge from the Marine Corps.
After her discharge from the Marine Corps, Cora attended San Diego State University and received a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts. She later received a Master's Degree in education from National University.
Cora taught six years in the Compton United School District as a fourth and fifth grade teacher. She also taught English as a second language (ESL) to adults for citizenship classes. In 1990 she went to Lynwood Unified School District where she taught at Lincoln Elementary. She retired in 2008 and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Cora participated in various activities during her teaching career. She served on the Superintendent Advisory Council and Union representative for Lynwood Teacher's Association for 10 years.
Cora created, produced and performed in the annual Motown Review, which was a favorite activity schoolwide. She assisted in the development of the Black History Museum, Cultural Assemblies, and Veteran's Day programs.
Cora has always said "She felt she never grew up because she never felt like she went to work. The job has always been fun."
Cora enjoyed her retirement. She regularly attended the senior centers where she participated in line dancing, card playing, exercises and various other activities. She loved to take cruises. Cora vacationed in Cincinnati and Tennessee to stay close with her family.
Cora is preceded in death by her mother, Isabelle Terry, her father, John Terry and her sister, Deborah Turner.
She is survived by her sister, Joyce Terry (Flossmoor, IL), brother-in-law, Thomas Turner (Cincinnati, OH), nephews, nieces, grand nephews and nieces and cousins.
