Letting Go

The angels gathered near your side So very close to you For they knew the pain and suffering That you were going through

I thought about so many things As I held your hand Oh, how I wished that you were strong And happy again

But your eyes were looking homeward To that place beyond the sky Where Jesus held His outstretched arms It was time to say goodbye

I struggled with my selfish thoughts For I wanted you to stay So we could walk and talk again Like we did…just yesterday

But Jesus knew the answer And I knew you loved Him so So I gave to you life’s greatest gift The gift of letting go

Dan worked in the Service Department of American Pfauter for about 5 years in the early '90s. The life of a Service Engineer is one of constant travel, occasionally clueless customers and occasionally unhelpful idiots back in the office. American Pfauter's Service Department was a close knit group and its alumni still gather several times a year. Dan joined us while he was in Illinois, even when he had moved on to another company, and we have missed him since the move to Nevada. You can be certain we will be sharing Dan stories when next we meet. He was an excellent engineer, a great story teller and a good friend who will be missed.

For over the past 4 years, I had the pleasure of joining Dan in one of the most revealing tests of life....Golf! At 5 hours a week, and nearly 52 weeks a year, surely in 4 years you really to get to see a person in every aspect of their personality. The game had no greater friend.
While I did not meet his family, he always shared his passion and pride for their success, and well being. I never heard him complain as he worked long weekly hours, flying spot to spot.....turning around and doing the same again next week...and so on. I always admired his tenacity.....and still he showed up on time for his round....amazing!
Most of all I knew of his honesty and integrity in his approach to anything that turned to be the "topic of the day". No compromise, no change of position....we always knew where Dan stood.

My memories a full of fun times, I am very lucky to have spent those years with Dan. He'll always be part of our foursome...... Lastly, I regret that I am out of town for his services, but I will visit him upon my return.

To that place beyond the sky
