Darrell Wayne Moore, 58, unexpectedly passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023. He was born in Martinsville, Virginia on November 5, 1964 and raised by his father, George Washington Moore. After graduating from Martinsville High School, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1984.
In 1987, he married the love of his life, Julie. Together, they had two daughters: Brittany and Ashley. He served his country proudly for 28 years. First as a First Class Boatswains Mate in the United States Navy for two decades, then another eight years with the Merchant Marines. Darrell served with honor throughout the first Gulf War, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and the War on Terror.
Darrell was an honest and humble man who loved his wife, Julie; daughters: Brittany (34) and Ashley (26); and granddaughters: Sophie and Zoey. Growing up in Martinsville, he would often watch the NASCAR races from his backyard. His love for the sport continued throughout his life as he would travel the country to see many races in person with his friends and family. Darrell became the master chef of the family with dishes like biscuits and gravy, London broil, and stuffed manicotti. Darrell also loved Lynyrd Skynyrd, football, his friends, and his country.
Darrell was preceded in death by his father George Moore; his wife, Julie Moore; mother-in-law, Paula Lingo; brother-in-law, David (Vicki) McClure; and nephew, Leland White. He will be loved and missed by all.
