

David Robert Hathaway, 72, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2021. He was born July 5, 1949 in Brooklyn, New York to his parents Lillian Palmstrom and Arthur L. Hathaway. David was raised with four siblings: Arthur, George, Tina, and Edward; grew up in Bullhead, Arizona; San Jose, California; Las Vegas, Nevada, and Japan.
David graduated from CHOFU High School in 1968 while living in Japan, and on February 3, 1969 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in Tachikawa, Japan. David served honorably in the U.S. Air Force for over 3 years achieving the rank of Sergeant; and being awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Medal, and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on October 24, 1972.
David returned to Japan, and worked as an English teacher for many years. He eventually returned to the United States, where he met Melida Rosa Oviedo. On July 18, 1992 the couple would be married in Santa Clara, California.
David enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were motorcycles, specifically Harley Davidson. He also enjoyed the outdoors and riding horses and spending time with his favorite pets: Kuma and Pumpkin.
David retired in 2018. Even in retirement, David continued to stay in touch with his old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances. David was active in his new community and felt fulfilled with the opportunities retirement offered him.
David was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. David leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember David Robert Hathaway.
David was preceded in death by his father, Arthur L. Hathaway; mother, Lillian Palmstrom; sister-in-law, Beverly Hathaway; and brother-in-law Ralph Campbell. He is survived by his wife, Melida Hathaway; and his siblings: George Hathaway (Vanessa), Arthur Hathaway, Tina Campbell, Edward Hathaway (Deborah).
A visitation for David will be held Monday, September 6, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will occur on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, beginning at 10:00 AM, both at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. David will be paid to rest with military honors at 12:00 PM at the Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veteran's Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
