Born on September 21, 1946, in Trenton, New Jersey, Dennis was the son of Frank and Eva (Zatkowsky) Molnar. He graduated from Trenton Central High School and voluntarily left college to enlist in the United States Marine Corps, choosing to serve his country during the Vietnam era. He served as a non-commissioned officer before receiving a medical discharge.
Dennis returned to his education at Trenton State College after the Marine Corps. He earned a bachelor’s degree in art, art therapy, and psychology, followed by a master’s degree in counseling.
Dennis dedicated much of his professional life to helping others. Throughout his varied career, he worked with individuals with traumatic brain injuries, served as a crisis therapist, worked in child protection services in Montana, and later served as executive director of CASA of Lewis and Clark and Broadwater Counties in Montana.
Dennis married Donna Bartlett on November 15, 1980. They remained married for 27 years until Donna’s passing in April 2007.
Outside of his professional life, Dennis enjoyed many interests, including horseback riding, playing pool, collecting, rescuing dogs, and taking cruises. He also embraced the role of Santa Claus each year, bringing the spirit and magic of Christmas to his family, his daughter’s school, and community events.
Dennis was part of the Back of the Bus Bunch, a group that shared years of friendship, laughter, and shenanigans. Their adventures included trips to ranches throughout New York, Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado, summer excursions to Six Flags Great Adventure, and holiday gatherings. Over the years, the group became like one big family. The children grew up as brothers and sisters, surrounded by adults who were like second parents to them.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Eva Molnar, and his wife, Donna Molnar.
He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Corby and her partner, Robert, and Sarah Molnar; his grandchildren, Emma and her partner, Carter, and Owen Corby; and his partner, Anita Domas.
No public services will be held. A private family ceremony will take place. Those wishing to honor Dennis’s memory may make a donation to the ASPCA in Helena, Montana.
