

LTC Donald S. Walker, age 68, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away peacefully at his home after a hard battle against cancer on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. He was born on February 15, 1953, the third son of four to the late Ruth Walker née Stuart and Jesse Walker, in Wilkinsburg suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Don attended the Edinboro University of Pennsylvania where he exceeded in academics as well as sports, becoming a dual athlete in baseball and wrestling. He would later attend graduate school at the University of Southern California where he studied politics and public relation and joined the school's ROTC program. Don was then commissioned on May 8, 1984 as an Officer in the United States Army and led a successful 30 year long career spending most of his service in Germany. Don was medically retired from the U.S. Armed Forces in 2014, shortly after receiving his cancer diagnosis in 2012.
Don is leaving behind his wife, Andrea; Donald and Andrea got married on November 25, 1994; his son, Alex, born in 1985 from his first marriage to Elizabeth Lopez; his youngest son, Roger, born in 1995; and stepson, Stephen, born in 1984; his older brother, Anthony; his twin brother, Darryl; and younger sisters: Jean and Pat.
A celebration of life will be held in Don's honor on November 8, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary & Cemetery, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, Nevada 89015. Don will be honored for his honorable and faithful service to the U.S. Army immediately following.
Don’s last wishes were for a tree planting burial in Flagstaff, Arizona that will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers we are asking for donations in Don's name be made to a Cancer Society of your choice or a donation to PayPal account Donald Walker @dsskywalker to participate in the planting of trees at the For-ever-forest in Don's honor.
