Dorothea Megu Cabrera, age 83, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021. She was born on February 6, 1938 in Infanta Pangasinan, Philippines; to her parents Bernabe and Placida. Dorothea was raised in Pangasinan, with her three siblings. She has one older brother, Virginio; an older sister, Esmaela; and a younger sister, Violeta. At an early age, Dorothea had to work to help support her family. In her spare time, she participated on a bowling team, Girl Scouts. singing folk songs, and farming. Whenever she got the chance, she enjoyed spending time with her best friends: Cora, Letty, Mario, Flor and Placido.

On October 27, 1968 Dorothea exchanged wedding vows with Jose Cacatian Cabrera at St. Joseph Church of Olongapo City, Zambales, Philippines. Family and children were important to Dorothea. The couple were blessed with six children: Ronald, Christina, Concepcion, Consuelo, Corazon, and Reynaldo; and seven grandchildren.

To help support her family, Dorothea obtained a job at Subic Naval Base. Her primary occupation was as naval restaurant worker. She was employed for 25 years at Subic Naval Base, prior to the family relocating to the United States. Always doing her part to take care of her family, she worked as a store clerk until retiring in 2003.

When Dorothea's retirement finally came, she was well prepared. Her new life involved relocating to San Francisco, California, until eventually settling in Nevada. Retirement afforded her the time to enjoy spending more time with her family and closest friends: Lydia, Alice, and Trinidad. She also looked forward to her bowling nights, and watching her favorite sports: football, baseball, and basketball.

Dorothea was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother; who knew what she wanted from life and never hesitated in going after it. She could be characterized as a driven individual, someone who understood the importance of achievement. Dorothea was decisive and outspoken, and devoted to her family. She had a heart of gold, a warm and comforting smile that will be truly missed.

“Mama
I still see your face before me
Your voice I long to hear..
I miss and love you dearly,
God knows, I wish, you were here.
Tears fall freely from my eyes,
like a river, filled with grief.
My only comfort now, is that,
From pain, you’ve found relief.
Missing You”
