Edwina E. "Hoppy" Hopkins

EDWINA E. "HOPPY" HOPKINS passed away Saturday, March 14, 2015. She was 89 years old and a resident of Henderson since 1952. Edwina was born in St. Louis, MO on September 27, 1925, to Edwin and Edna Fuhr. She was married to Wallace W. Hopkins, Sr., in August, 1946. He later passed away in May, 1955. "Hoppy" had a career in Nursing for 30-years, as an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse), for St. Rose DeLima Hospital, downtown Henderson. She had started work as a Nurse's Aide, but shortly thereafter, successfully "challenged the test" for her LPN License. Earlier in her life, she was a member of Our Savior's Luthern Church of Henderson and had a passion for hiking with the Sieria Hiking Club; was a Girl Scout Leader; and later enjoyed attending Basic High School Football Games ~ especially watching her two sons, "Sonny" and J.C., play. Also, she was a very devoted St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan. "Hoppy" was survived by her Children: Kathleen Cardwell, Sharron Macklin (with husband, "Mac"), and J.C. Hopkins (with wife, Robin); and seven (7) Grandchildren: Michelle Hynes (with husband, Jim); Theresa Reber; Ken R. Weast, Jr., (with wife, Amy); Sonniann Upshaw (with husband, Jason); Jessica Tucker (with husband, Sean); Keith Barney and Jason Macklin. Additionally, she is survived by her eight (8) Great-Grandchildren: Brandon Barnum (with wife, Lilli); Christopher Barnum (with wife, Brittany); Summer Barney; Bryanna Romero (with husband, David); Cassidy Weast; Rachelle Upshaw; Issac Upshaw and Zack Hynes; as well as two (2) Great-Great-Grandchildren, Karen and Delilah Tucker; with two (2) more Great-Great-Grandchildren expected late this summer. Further, she is survived by her two (2) Brothers: Ralph Fuhr (with wife, Helene) and Roland Fuhr (with wife, Yvonne) and her Sister-in-law, Janet Fuhr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace W. Hopkins, Sr., noted above, and her son, Wallace W. "Sonny" Hopkins, Jr., as well as her parents, Edwin and Edna Fuhr; and Brothers, Gerald Fuhr and Don Fuhr; and her Sister, Laverne Martell. Services will be held at Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Hwy., Henderson, NV on Saturday, March 21, 2015; with a Viewing at 10:00am and the Funeral Service at 11:00am. Immediately following the services, there will be an Open Reception.
