Elizabeth Barrett Browning Johnson

March 16, 1957September 17, 2019

Elizabeth Barrett Browning Johnson, age 62, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on Tuesday September 17, 2019. Elizabeth was born March 16, 1957 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Elizabeth Barrett Browning Johnson (nee Roe) lived a graceful life of 62 years and proved that love and kindness can pour comforting light into even the darkest of days. Elizabeth persevered against the formidable foe of Progressive Multiple Sclerosis for more than 30 years. When the angels called her name last week, she danced so freely off this earthly stage and into the waiting arms of her forever peace.

She was called “Dear Elizabeth” by her parents James and Jean Roe, who will greet her in heaven with their boundless love. She was called “Liz” by the love of her life, Daniel. They devoted 42 years of marriage to each other, having met in High School on the Canadian prairies. Dan carried Liz through life with his unwavering love and unending adoration, as she did for him. He will miss her in every future moment; of that there is no doubt.

She was called “Mom” by their son Andrew and their daughter Kristen. She was “Grandma” to their blessed grandchildren, Keian, Andie, Julianna, Cally and Brooklyn. She was called Lizzy, Liz, Lizard, Sis, and oodles of other sibling knick-names by her three loving sisters who will cherish the gift of Liz and spend their lives counting the ways they loved her.

Extended family and friends across Canada and the United States, as far away as the UK and as close as down the street, will remember Liz for the exquisitely beautiful ballerina she was, the skilled and gentle nurse she became, and that girl who never let a single day go by without finding something to smile about.

A memorial service for Elizabeth will be held Saturday, October 5, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Central Christian Church, 1001 New Beginnings Dr, Henderson, NV 89011, Henderson, NV 89011.

Liz was an amazing example for everyone. Despite the debilitating illness she had to deal with, she always had a smile on her face and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. When I would visit Vegas every year, Dan and Liz and I would meet for lunch, yogurt or whatever we chose. Her joy of life was very evident and seeing her with her daughter and granddaughter showed how much she loved her children and grandchildren. I picture her now running around heaven showing everyone pictures of her children and grandchildren. She was an angel here on earth and is now an angel in heaven.

I have been given a cherished blessing by knowing Liz Johnson in my life. When I think of her, my heart is happy and my spirit is cheerful as her presence would light up any room. She had a knack fir cleverness and she commanded the stage at family gatherings. She kept the jovial atmosphere going and she kept us laughing with just a facial expression or whimsical word. She was our Liz and everyone looked forward to being around her. She was always equipped with a friendly smile.....that’s how I remember Liz. Heaven is a brighter place now.💕

One of my favorite memories of Aunty Liz was when I was in Vegas for my Mom's wedding to Graham. I was over at Aunty Liz and Uncle Dan's visiting. I convinced Aunty Liz to come out and sit by the pool for a bit, get her out of the house. We go over to the pool deck and get her settled in a pool chair. After only about 10 minutes the sun and heat was a little too much for her. There were 2 strapping young men across the pool deck from us, so I asked if they could do me a favour. They jumped right on it, they came over and picked up Aunty Liz's chair, with her on it like the beautiful queen that she was, and walked her over to the cooler shade. She giggled and had the biggest smile on her face. They made her day. I will hold that smile and that memory in my heart forever 💜 We will all miss you Aunty Liz.
Love always
