
Ellen Ann (Cookie) Dabrowski (nee Sztabnik), 75, of Henderson, NV passed away July 18, 2024. Ellen was born on December 31, 1948 in Bronx, New York. She was a graduate of Hasbrouck Heights High School, and took some college courses years later. She was known to everyone as “Cookie”. Cookie married the love of her life, James Joseph Dabrowski, on October 27, 1967.
Cookie worked various jobs throughout her lifetime, but most important to her and James, was her staying at home to raise their five children.
Cookie was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Club of Hasbrouck Heights. But her most important role was being Grandma Cookie, who loved chatting on the phone as well as visiting with her seven grandchildren. She loved to play board games and enjoyed doing her puzzles with everyone. She enjoyed the outdoors and the hot desert weather. Cookie enjoyed her bowling leagues with James and playing cards on Friday nights with friends. She loved watching old movies as well as the new ones! Cookie was an avid reader and murder mysteries filled her bookshelves. Angela Landsbury and Murder She Wrote novels were among her favorites. Later in life she took up painting like her father, Tom, and what a beautiful artist she was! Anyone that knew Cookie knows how much she loved her family, her dog Captain, Elvis, Captain Jack Sparrow, Sean Connery and of course her New York Yankees!
She is proceeded in death by her beloved husband James Dabrowski, who she so dearly missed for the past 10 years. She is also proceeded in death by her beloved parents, Thomas and Ethel Sztabnik, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She is survived by: Her beloved daughter, Dara Lynn Fogge and husband Randy, and grandchildren Jenna and Frank. Her beloved daughter, DeeAnn DeRuvo and husband Anthony, and grandsons Jack and Thomas. Her beloved daughter Heather Dabrowski and granddaughter Jessica. Her beloved daughter Rachael and husband Donald Fleenor, and grandsons Nicholas and Donald Jr. Her beloved son, Thomas James Dabrowski and Nicholle Christiano. Cookie is also survived by her beloved sister, Eleanor MacGaughran and many nieces and nephews.
Private services were held in Henderson, Nevada. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Cookie to her favorite charity, Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
