Enriqueta (Queta) was born on April 14, 1940 to Margarita and Joaquin Tarazon in Bacerac, Sonora, Mexico. She was part of a dynamic quad of sisters. She had two older sisters, Maria and Herminia (Mini) and has a younger sister, Margarita (Mague). They all shared their love for their parents and their beloved hometown. Lots of stories have been shared, especially about their farm and river. Later the Tarazon family moved to Agua Prieta, Sonora in 1958 where they formed a loving home with many gatherings filled with family and friends. Queta met the love of her life, Miguel B. Chavez, in 1966 and then married on July 29,1967. They had two children, Norma Alicia and Miguel Angel. Queta and Miguel lived in Agua Prieta, MX for a couple years then moved to Tucson, AZ, Oakland, CA, and finally settled in Douglas, AZ. It was in Douglas where Queta was able to devote her time and love to crafts. She loved knitting blankets, scarves, and headbands for her granddaughters Paulina and Carolina. She loved baking cakes and decorating them for weddings and quinceañeras. One of her best cakes she made was for her niece Silvia’s quinceanera. Queta made a First Communion dress for her niece, Angelica, and of course many formal dresses for Norma. She loved creating flowers out of plastic and dough glue. She enjoyed taking care of her MANY birds and MANY plants. Queta spent a lot of time helping Miguel manage their restaurant, store, apartments and laundromat in MX. They were very proud to be the first to build a two story complex in Agua Prieta. Queta loved spending time with her sisters, nieces, nephews, and friends in Agua Prieta and Douglas. Queta and Miguel extensively traveled with friends and family throughout Mexico. When Miguel passed in 2017, she soon came to live in Henderson with Mario, Norma, Paulina and Carolina. Once in Henderson, Queta enjoyed sharing her recipes with Mario then helped him turn them into delicious dishes. She loved spending time with Paulina and Carolina. They enjoyed taking their Abuelita to lunch, shopping, Starbucks and shared several fun adventures. In 2020, she suffered a stroke which caused her to lose mobility on her right side, stopping her from doing the many things she loved. Her health began to decline soon after. She was diagnosed with pneumonia several times and suffered from a mild case of dementia. Queta loved her family and spent time with them until the day she left and entered heaven on May 24, 2022.
