Ernest “Ernie” Sierras was born in Los Angeles (Watts), California, and he peacefully passed away on June 30, 2014, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was proud of his upbringing in “La Colonia” because it made him who he was, strong and fearless. After his many adventures in “La Colonia” he joined the Army so that he could see the world. He served in the Korean War and his bravery earned him several medals of which he proudly displayed. The pride of his service for his country continued throughout his life through his patriotism. Ernie spent fifty years of his life in Las Vegas. He helped build Las Vegas casinos through his custom upholstery work. He retired from the 4 Queens after 30 years and became a successful upholstery shop owner where he continued to upholster for various casinos and patrons who appreciated him and his work. In addition to his patriotism, and hard work and dedication for his shop, Ernie enjoyed rebuilding classic cars. He won several trophies for his classic cars and would proudly display them in his shop next to his military medals, which would all often become the topic of conversation. People of all ages would visit him in his shop to hear his stories of which he was always willing to share. Ernie loved his family, his friends, and being the life of any party, so much that we celebrated his birthday twice. He lived his life to the fullest. Left to carry on his memory are his wife Josie, daughters Laura and Tina, sons Ernest and Lance, several grandchildren, brothers and sisters, and nieces and nephews in Nevada and California. He is greatly missed. A service to celebrate his life will be held at Palm Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway in Henderson, Nevada on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at 10:00 a.m.
