Erwin “Ed” Beckman sadly passed away on June 28, 2022 after an 11 month battle with lung cancer. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Erwin Henry Beckman Sr. and Mabel Walker. He’s left behind his devoted wife of 28 years, Dianne Beckman, five loving children and their spouses; Jennifer Kael (Nick), Ryan Beckman (Emily), Rochel Jaramillo, Jacob and Paul Beckman and five adoring stepchildren and their spouses; M.Damian Erasmus(Jenny), Dinah Erasmus, Deidre Rippy (Dallas), Diana Murrer (Michael) and M.Frank Erasmus (Evan). He was a loving brother to his five siblings and a proud grandfather to 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
After attending high school in La Mirada, California, Ed proudly entered the United States Army in May 1967, serving as an MP in Korea through May 1972. Throughout his life, Ed was always a DIY guy, with his main passions being classic cars, hot rods, woodworking and cooking. He had served as president of the Saddleback Rods Car Club. He was a devout Catholic, proudly serving as Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus, Council 7519, at the Mission Basilica in San Juan Capistrano, California. Ed could repair anything and his woodworking talents were amazing, building multiple pieces of furniture for family. He also enjoyed cooking and creating amazing meals for family and friends. He was a true connoisseur. Ed owned an electrical engineering business repairing and maintaining hospital equipment and sterilizers. He retired in 2018 and settled with the "love of his life” Dianne, in Las Vegas, Nevada for his twilight years. Ed, a kind and gentle spirit, leaves a void in many lives, a void that will never again be filled. Ed believed:
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity
under the heavens: A time to be born and a time to die,
A time to plant and a time to uproot, A time to kill and a time to heal, A time to tear down and a time to build,
A time to weep and a time to laugh
a time to mourn and a time to dance” Ecclesiastes 3:1-4
A funeral service will be held at the Guardian Angel Cathedral on the Las Vegas Strip on August 16th at 10:30 am. He will be honorably laid to rest at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada, with a blessing and service in the Cemetery Chapel at 1pm.
