Evangeline Barber Massey departed this life and received her perfect heavenly body on 28 May 2026. Vangie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and auntie to her family. She was born in Palo Leyte, Philippines to the late Isabela Rom Barber and Pablo W. Barber. She moved to Guam in 1973 where she met her future husband and soul mate Michael while he was stationed in Guam with the USAF. They were married in 1977 and went on to raise their three children while transferring to stations around the world and throughout the US. They lived in Europe, Asia, Hawaii, New Jersey, Illinois, Alabama, and Montana to name just a few.
Upon retirement from the USAF, they decided to settle down in Las Vegas where Vangie discovered casinos. She loved to play the slot machines with her close circle of friends which included Carmelita, Maria, Angie, Jun, and Linda. She definitely walked away with her share of jackpots over the years as well as many fond memories. She liked old Western TV shows such as Gunsmoke and Tales of Wells Fargo. She also liked movies, especially The Ten Commandments, King of Kings, and the Gladiator.
She loved her family above everything and hardly ever missed a chance to cook for them. Her signature dishes were pancit, caldereda, and lumpia. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She relished hearing about their accomplishments and successes in life and was always there when they needed a strong shoulder to lean on.
She was the rock that her family was built on, always there to love and nurture everyone in times of need. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and auntie that anyone could wish for. The loss of her daily presence will be felt deeply by her family and everyone that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and parents in law, sister and brother in law; Evelyn Hallera and Rudy Hallera, sister; Aida Vero, brother in law; Jose Marbibi, brother in law; Wayne Massey.
She is survived by her husband Michael of the home; son Major Michael Massey Jr. US Army; son William Nell Nacional (Lot-Lot) of the Philippines; daughter Evangeline Askins (Chad) of Las Vegas; daughter Heather Harvey (Steve) of Las Vegas; sister Carmen Barber Marbibi; sister and brother in law Barbara and J.L.
