Honoring the Life of Gary Leon Misenhimer

Gary Leon Misenhimer, age 76, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024. He was the second child born Dios Misenhimer and Louise Smith on September 26, 1947, in Flora, Illinois. Gary spent his childhood on the family farm, playing in the local woods, and swimming in Racoon Creek. After graduating from Flora high school, Gary worked for a local bread delivery company. While delivering bread to Centralia, Illinois, Gary met a local waitress,Terri Starr. Their love grew and they were married at St Mary’s Catholic Church, on June 25, 1968.

After the couple were married, Gary enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, and served 18 months in Vietnam earning multiple combat and service medals. After Vietnam, Gary was stationed at Twentynine Palms, California. Gary and Terri decided to stay and raise their family in the Palm Springs, California area. Gary began working his life long trade of 45 years as a plumber and pipefitter. In the mid 1990’s, Gary and Terri moved to Henderson, Nevada. Gary and Terri spent their retirement years traveling and visiting family.

Gary was preceded in death by Terri Misenhimer after marriage of 53 years. Gary is survived by his sons: Christopher (Andrea) and Daniel (Sumer); grandchildren: Nathaniel, William, Bernadette, Arthur, and Patrick; and his sisters: Kathy, Gayla, and Dana.

Gary will be reunited with Terri at his final resting place of Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Love you more than yesterday, less than tomorrow.
