Harold Brent Baker, age 88, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023. He was born on February 23, 1935, at the family farm near Stockton, Kansas, as the eighth of ten children to Oliver Virgil and Mary Ella (Cadoret) Baker.
After graduating from Phillipsburg, Kansas high school in 1953, Harold worked as a farm laborer for various farms in the area. He joined the Kansas Army National Guard in 1955 as a Private / E-1. He married Darlene (Dolan) in June 1958 and together they had three sons: Anthony Alan, Timothy Lee and Terry Joseph.
In 1959, Harold began a 28 year career with the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, as a construction inspector. He completed a 33 year military career in the U.S. Army Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel after retiring in 1988. Harold was a member of American Legion BMI Post 40, NARFE chapter 2031 and Henderson chapter of RPEN.
Harold leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years, Darlene; his three sons: Anthony (Christine), Timothy (Betty), Terry (Angel); two grandsons: Riley Baker (Kayla), Kyle Baker (Leslee); one step grandson, Damion VanCamp (Jamie); two step great grandsons: Alexander and Christian VanCamp; many friends and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mary and Oliver Baker, five brothers and four sisters.
A visitation for Harold will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, both at at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. Harold will be laid to rest with full military honors at 11:30 at the Boulder City Municipal Cemetery, 501 Adams Blvd, Boulder City, NV 89005.
