Helen Marie Bagstad

In Memoriam Helen Marie Bagstad of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Thursday Jan. 26, 2017. She was 94 years young. Born Dec. 21,1922 in Chicago, Illinois to Harold & Elsie Gustafson. Helen spent the first years of her life in Port Wing, Wisconsin; Superior, Wisconsin; and Chicago, IL. She met and married Jay O. Bagstad in Port Wing. In 1952, Helen and Jay moved to Denver, Colorado where they spent 10 years. From there they moved to Henderson, Nevada in 1963. Helen was a chemist at Stauffer Chemical in Henderson and was there until her retirement. She then became actively involved as a volunteer in many organizations including: Spring Mountain Ranch, Lake Mead Visitor Center, Henderson Museum Guild, Las Vegas Friendship Force, the Sierra Club and the Wetlands Park. She was a wonderful and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her sons, Michael and David and daughters Barbara Buchter and Patricia Wong; grandchildren, Sheri, Christopher, Stephanie, Ric, Aminta, Drew, Brooke, Chelsea, great-grandchildren: Ian, Cody, Avery, Ryan, Amanda, Mason, Darian, Anneleise, Jay, Dmitri; great-great grandchild Amelia and one precious baby girl on the way. Services will be at 1 PM on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Palm Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Hwy, Henderson, NV 89015. Helen will be remembered for her sweetness and kindness, and as the wonderful human being she was. She was a very caring and selfless person who will be forever near and dear to our hearts.
