He enlisted in the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1959 from San Diego, where he hitch-hiked all the way home to Aurora, Colorado. In his Navy days, he spent a year in the Philippine Islands and loved to tell stories about it. After the Navy, he joined the Aurora Fire Department. Four years later, Ross left the Fire Department to enroll in the University of Denver where he graduated with a degree in Accounting.
In 1962, he married the love of his life, Judy. They purchased an accounting practice in Granby, Colorado in 1967. Ross had many hobbies. He loved to hunt and fish. Ross earned his scuba certification and enjoyed many diving trips to the Bahamas and vacations to Mexico with his lifelong friends from Granby. In 1973, Ross earned his pilot’s license and in 1974, he purchased a Cessna 182 and enjoyed flying his family and friends to many destinations, especially to Lake Powell.
Ross moved his family to Boulder City, Nevada in 1980. He opened his accounting practice and truly enjoyed being part of the Boulder City business community. We would love to take the time to thank the employees of the Boulder Dam Hotel and the Boulder Creek Golf Club for feeding our dad so many wonderful meals and keeping him company after the loss of our mom. We are forever grateful. A special thank you to the caregivers from Comfort Keepers, especially Deb who made our dad’s last month a blessing, thank you so much.
Funeral services will be private at the family’s request. In lieu of flowers, please donate to any animal shelter in Cowboy’s name.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.palmboulderhighway.com for the Wright family.
