Jacob Isadore King Jr., known by friends and family as Jay or Mister King, was born October 19, 1943 in Roseland, Louisiana to Jacob King and Gladys Pryne. He passed away peacefully in his home on December 26, 2020 in Henderson, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his mother Gladys, his father Jacob, his sisters Roberta and Virginia, and brother Thomas. He is survived by his daughter Rebecca Legamaro, her husband Tony Legamaro, and his grandchildren, Anna and Sam.

Jay joined the US Marine Corp straight out of highschool at age 17 and served from 1961 to 1966 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Upon leaving the Marine Corp he used the GI bill to enroll in the Automation Institute of America to study computer programming. He graduated in June of 1968 with a diploma in Computer Programming. He later received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. His career evolved from computer systems design and installation to professional project and data systems management. During his career he worked for companies such as SWRI, Coca Cola Bottling Company, Honeywell, and IT Strategies International. A devoted patriot, he was particularly proud of his work with the USAF on the F-117A Stealth Fighter. He spent many years working at the Nevada Water Department as a senior project manager.

Jay was an extraordinary human being who left an indelible mark on the people he met. He was a man of humble beginnings who worked hard his entire life to better himself and be of service to others. A kind and generous person who was always willing to lend a hand, give sound advice, or simply words of encouragement. He was a passionate lover of the arts enjoying theater, movies, artwork, and a wide variety of music. He was an excellent ballroom dancer, and an even better poker player. More than anything, Jay was a King among men. A true gentleman, a scholar, a philosopher, a teacher, and a friend, his light and love will be dearly missed by those who knew him.

A visitation for Jay will be held Friday, January 15, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Funeral services will be Friday, January 15, 2021 from 4:00 – 5:00 PM, both at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. He will be laid to rest at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in a private family ceremony, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Disabled Veterans of America, a cause dear to Jay.
