

With profound sadness and immense gratitude for a life well lived, the family of James "Jim" Martinez announces his passing on May 26, 2026, at the age of 81. Surrounded by the love of his family, Jim departed this life leaving behind a legacy of compassion, integrity, and unwavering devotion to those he cherished.
Jim was born on June 18, 1944, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, to Herman and Christine Martinez. He graduated from Robertson High School in 1962 and attended New Mexico Highlands University. In 1963, Jim moved to Henderson, Nevada, and on July 25, 1964, he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Frances.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Frances; his children, Patricia, Jimmy, and Stephanie (Donavan); his grandchildren, Niccolas, Brandon, Jimmy, and Zoe; and his great-granddaughter, Ozzy, with a great-grandson expected soon. He is also survived by his brothers, Herman (Sylvia), John (Cass), and Carl; his sister, Eloise (Mike); his uncle, Benny Martinez of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his grandmother, Josephine Martinez, and his parents, Herman and Christine Martinez.
Among his many accomplishments, Jim fulfilled a lifelong dream by founding Bike World in 1969 after working at the Nevada Test Site. Through hard work, dedication, and a commitment to serving others, he built the business into a respected part of the community that continues to serve customers today.
Jim was known not only for his big heart but also for his warm, genuine smile that made everyone feel welcome. His life was defined by his devotion to family, generosity toward others, and his remarkable ability to bring people together. Family was always his highest priority. He cherished his annual visits to his hometown of Las Vegas, New Mexico, where he enjoyed reconnecting with family. He also treasured the yearly camping trips to Pine Valley, Utah, a family tradition that spanned more than 40 years and created countless cherished memories that will live on for generations.
Jim will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. His kindness, warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for family will be remembered always, and his legacy will live on through the many lives he enriched.
