

Jesse Bonner Jr. was born to Jesse Bonner Sr. and Rosie Lee Bonner (Wilson) on December 28, 1943. He was the second child of their union. He is preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Christley (Rosie), and sister, Elsie Thompson (Jesse Sr.).
Jesse attended and graduated from Manassas High School in Memphis, Tennessee. After graduating from high school, Jesse joined the United States Marine Corps, where he served two tours during the Vietnam War. While serving, Jesse earned the rank of Corporal and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in September 1971 from Camp Pendleton and later medically retired due to war-related illnesses.
On March 2, 2026, Jesse Bonner Jr. departed this life. He leaves to cherish in his memory: his four children: Treva Johnson (Troy), Monty Ray Bonner (Shawntae), Kenyatta Terron Bonner and Tremaine Brown, and Jenise Esomonu (Paulinas); his sister, Shirley Pope; his grandchildren: Shana Edwards (Brandyon), Khaleb and Khamray Bonner, Arelia Thierry, Darius Morris, Jordan Bonner, Kaysaun Bonner, Nicolette and Nekeial Esomonu; his great-grandchildren: Elijah and Azari Brooks, Giovanni Bryant, Kassy Bonner, Krissy Bonner, and Brandyon Edwards; his loving nieces: Sheena Holland-Pope, Michelle Christly, and Deidra Obiajulu; his devoted best friend of over 53 years, Donald R. Cooper, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.
A Celebration of Life and Repast will be held at the American Legion Post 40, 425 E Van Wagenen Street, Henderson, Nevada 89015, on March 17, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
A Military Honors Service will take place at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005, on March 18, 2026, at 10:40 am.
