John Henry Sanderson
November 30, 1944 – March 8, 2018
John Henry Sanderson peacefully entered the gates of Heaven on March 8th, 2018, surrounded by the love of his life, best friend, and soul mate; Ruth (Earley) Sanderson; and his loving siblings: Carl and Karen; after bravely battling cancer.
John was born November 30, 1944, the son of John Thomas and Mary Helen (Shubmehl) Sanderson in Dansville, New York. He grew up in Scottsburg, New York and attended Dansville High School.
John was a great man, who dedicated his life to serving others. He was a Cold War Veteran serving in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1968. He continued his service in the Army Reserves, where he retired as an E8, Master Sergeant, on November 30, 2004. John was a life member of Sparta Center Volunteer Fire Co. and an EMT for Dansville Volunteer Ambulance Corp., both of Dansville, New York. He retired in 2002 from ATOfina (Lucidal) and relocated to Henderson, Nevada where he eventually met and married Ruth.
When John married Ruth on September 22, 2012, he never stopped smiling. John enjoyed spending time Geocaching, and enjoying Las Vegas life with Ruth. He also enjoyed spending time with his step-son Connor and step-daughters Emma and Madissen.
John was predeceased by his parents, John Thomas and Mary Helen, and his sister, Jean Marie Sanderson. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; step-children: Melissa (John) Johnston of Nampa, Idaho, Wendi (Travis Garner) Miller of Phoenix, Arizona, Sean (Anne) Earley of Wiesbaden, Germany, Emma (Ernie) Rodrigues, Madissen Earley and Connor Earley all of Henderson, Nevada; brother, Carl (Sandra) Sanderson of Palm Coast, Florida; sister, Karen (Bruce) Parsons of Sanford, North Carolina; granddaughters: Chloe and Frida Earley, and Lily Garner; nephews: Kyle Sanderson, Aaron Parsons and Garrik Lamb; nieces: Morgan and Margaret Sanderson, and Barbara (Devyn Bremmer) Lamb; and great-nephews: Westley and Donevan Bremmer.
A memorial service will be held at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City Nevada with full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the American Cancer Society in John’s honor. Further details regarding arrangements will be shared by the family at a later date.
