John Henry Stamps, 93, passed away on July 7, 2021 in Las Vegas, NV. Born in Grady, AR in 1927 to Jacob and Addie Stamps. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Marta and six siblings Jacob Jr., William, Bertha, Daisy, Ernest and Raymond.

John is survived by his son Michael and daughter-n-law Julie (NV), son David (NV), grandchildren; Andrew (OK), Amanda (GA), Connor (NV) and Great Grandson Jaxton (OK).

John left Grady, AR at 14 years of age and made his way to Chicago, IL in the early 1940s. John enlisted in the United States Army during WWII as a Technician Fifth Grade. He served in France and Germany with Headquarters, 439th Transportation Corps Truck Company.

After returning home he worked in the service industry for several years. In 1967 he joined the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 25 as a member. In 1978 he became a Business Representative for Local 25 and retired from that position in 1998.

After retiring he and Marta moved to Hot Springs Village, AR to look after his mother during her final days. In 2004 he and Marta relocated to Henderson, NV. where he and Marta spent their remaining years together.

John loved music (Blues), dancing and was an avid reader. He had an easy going personality, a lively sense of humor and enjoyed the company of friends and strangers alike. He was laid to rest along side his loving wife on July 20, 2021 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City, NV.
