

Joseph James Horne, age 87, of Boulder City Nevada, died suddenly on August 21st, 2023. He was born June 8th, 1936, in Saginaw, Michigan to Joseph and Katherine Horny. He grew up in the town of Hemlock with siblings Margaret, Mary, George and Angeline. He attended Hemlock High School. He served in the Army from 1959 through 1962 and was a decorated sharpshooter.
Joe was married in 1964 to Mary Ellen Held and raised 4 children in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He retired from General Motors in the 1980s. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and bowler. The family spent many Thanksgivings at his sister Mary’s deer hunting, most summers fishing for walleye on Erie and bowling at Colonial Lanes where his best average was 226. Joe held memberships with both Elks Club and Free Masons. Joe was a big Michigan Football fan-GO BLUE! He also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in athletics over the years. In the early 1990s, Joe moved to Boulder City Nevada where he grew a thriving business. He is well known as a story- teller, having a good laugh and enjoying a meal.
Survivors include; his five children: son, Joseph (Jill) and his daughters, Christine Holifield, Kathleen Dennis (Brian), Sandra Silva (Joseph) and Roselle Linger. Seven grandchildren also survive: Joseph Horne II, Ryan Holifield, Mason Holifield, Ty Silva, Courtney Dennis, Alexander Dennis and Lauren Linger. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Katherine Horny, sister Mary Garcia-Mitchell, brother George Horny.
He will be buried at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City Nevada. Date to be determined.
