Juliana Acorda Ramit was born on March 19, 1920 in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines to Crisanta Acorda and Santos Acio. Due to family hardships and the impending occupation of Japan, she wasn’t able to continue her education. Leandro Ramit, a childhood friend, became her husband after returning from Hawaii as a sugar cane farmer. She also became a new stepmother to Maura. Juliana and Leandro were blessed with 5 children: Dionisio, Margarita, Teresita, Alejo, and Marilyn. A homemaker by profession, she spent most of her life taking care of her family. In 1982, a year after the death of Leandro, she migrated to Hawaii, along with Margarita. Soon after, Alejo and Marilyn also migrated to Hawaii, with Teresita migrating to California. She briefly worked at a restaurant, but made the decision to continue being a homemaker and to begin taking care of her grandchildren. In 2001, along with Marilyn she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, to join Margarita, who first came here in 1999. Donisio and Teresita would also transfer to Las Vegas a couple of years later. Now settled in Vegas, Juliana would spend the remaining years of her life being a doting mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She would spend her days crocheting, sewing, watching TFC, and solving crossword puzzles. In March of 2019, she celebrated her 99th birthday with a party in tribute to her Filipino heritage and her childhood in the Philippines. A religious woman, she devoted her life to God, by giving thanks to all the blessings she has been given. She is survived by 4 children, 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, 3 children, and 4 grandchildren. Juliana will be greatly missed by those that loved and cared for her throughout the 99 years of her life.
