LTC Kevin Rumley Dodge Sr., US Army (Retired), passed away at his home in Henderson, Nevada, on May 1, 2026, at the age of 68. Kevin was a committed husband and father, a dedicated officer, and a generous soul who spent his life ensuring his loved ones were cared for and protected with unwavering integrity.
Kevin was born on February 12, 1958, in Claremont, New Hampshire, to Charles Edward Dodge and Elizabeth Margaret Jackson. His life was defined early on by a commitment to service. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1981, commissioning into the Quartermaster Corps.
His service took him across the globe, including assignments in Germany and across the U.S. A leader of immense talent, Kevin attended Command and General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. He then served with 3D Corps Support Command based out of Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. He concluded his military career at Fort Belvoir, where he served with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). Over a distinguished 20-plus-year career, Kevin ensured that the soldiers under his watch had what they needed to be mission-ready. Upon retiring from the US Army in 2001, Kevin moved his family to California to begin a second career at Boeing. For the next 24 years, he applied his logistical expertise to the C-17 Project. He was known for his relentless work ethic, famously driving a nearly 100-mile round-trip commute every day until his retirement in 2025.
On October 12, 1983, Kevin married the love of his life, Maria Ann Dodge. They welcomed their first son, Kevin Jr., in 1985 and later welcomed their second son, Joshua, who shares his birthday in 1988. Maria and Kevin’s 42-year marriage was a testament to the "in sickness and in health" vow. Since the early 1990s, Kevin served as Maria’s primary caregiver and steady anchor. He considered it his greatest duty and privilege to manage her medical appointments and daily care, ensuring she always had what she needed. Kevin’s heart was large enough to encompass many; he viewed his sister-in-law, Angelica Lauer, as a daughter, where she lived with the family during her high school years.
He was known for his calm, steady nature. Deeply interested in family, Kevin took great pride in his heritage. He upheld a cherished tradition by presenting both of his sons with a family coat of arms ring on their 18th birthdays; a physical symbol of the legacy and values he passed down to them.
When he wasn’t taking care of his family, he loved traveling as it was a big part of his life. One of his most memorable trips was the last one he took to Costa Rica with Maria, Charlie Davis, Dawn Davis, and Michael Erickson, where they all laughed over monkeys stealing their belongings. Kevin also loved playing games like Spades with his friends and family. Kevin was always the go-to for any friend in need, but in his quiet moments could often be found quietly passing the time with a game of FreeCell.
Kevin is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Ann Dodge; his sons, Kevin Jr. (and wife Lauren, and their son Rumley Wayne Dodge, who carries on his name) and Joshua (and wife Anna). He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Angelica Lauer and Noelle Gonzalez; brothers-in-law, John and Joe Dalessio; and his nephews Brett Kittredge and Trevor Dodge, and nieces Tracey Kittredge and Samantha Johnson. He also considered the infamous “Choirboys,” who were his fellow veterans and service members, his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Margaret Jackson, and father, Charles Edward Dodge, sister Dorthy “Dot” Kittredge, and brother Brian Dodge.
A visitation will be held at Palm Mortuary - Henderson, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015, US, on May 9, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
