

Lawrence Gerard Manning, 85, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away September 28, 2012 at a local hospital. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, March 31, 1927. Lawrence received an Honorable Discharge for 2 years of service in the U.S. Navy during WWII. During this service he served aboard the USS Vinton as Machinist Mate and operated amphibious vehicles to transport troops and supplies to various battles. He was a member of the Lathers Union in New York City and Carpenter Union in Las Vegas. He worked in this profession for over 45 years. During his career he worked on the Astro View Observation Towers built for the 1964 Worlds Fair.
Lawrence was preceded in death by 4 sisters and 1 brother. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. Manning and Dee A. Manning, daughter and son-in-law, Linda M. Hayes and Henry Hayes, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. Interment will follow at 11:30am, Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the Boulder City Cemetery, 501 Adams Blvd., Boulder City, Nevada 89005. U.S Navy Honor Guard to present Military Honors.
