Leon McClain, age 84, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024. He was born on August 7, 1939 in Terry, Mississippi to his parents Duncan and Tempie McClain (Walnum). He was raised in a loving family with his twelve siblings. Leon graduated from high school and went on to continue his education. In 1958, Leon enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he would work as a Special Radio Operator. Leon honorably served in the US Marine Corps during Vietnam, and would retire after 21 years as a Gunnery Sergeant. Following his retirement, Leon would continue to work for the state of California.
After retirement from the State of California, Leon called Henderson, Nevada home for the last 26 years. He was an avid golfer, gardener and bowler who enjoyed riding motorcycles; and always found time to hang out at Sunset Station to play the one arm bandit! He was a proud Marine as he wore his favorite baseball caps with the Marine insignia on it daily.
Leon is survived by his two sons: Kennith and Derek McClain; his daughter, Julie Paisant; grandchildren: Arnold, Jermaine and Justin McClain, and Brianna and Brandon Paisant; his siblings, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and his good friends Richard and Sheri Byrd who were always by his side.
A special thank you to the staff who took care of Leon during his brief illness and to friends.
