Leonard Sammarco, age 74, of Henderson, Nevada passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Friday, April 12, 2024. Lenny was born in Boston and raised in Needham, Massachusetts.
Lenny made many friends over his twenty-two years of service in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in six states and overseas in England. He was highly regarded by his military peers in the US Air Force, yet was not one to boast about his many accomplishments. Lenny also proudly and honorably served during the Vietnam War. He retired as a Master Sergeant from Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1990.
Following his distinguished military career, Lenny served as a security officer at Rutland Regional Medical Center in Rutland, Vermont for 13 years before returning to Nevada in 2012. He was an avid Boston Bruins and VGK fan who loved to read, cook, and bake for those he loved. He also enjoyed listening to 50s and 60s rock and country music. Lenny‘s quick-witted sarcasm and zest for life are truly what made him an incredible person to be around. Lenny’s friends and loved ones will miss him dearly.
Lenny was preceded in death by his parents: Wedo and Marguerite Sammarco; brother, Thomas Sammarco and his sons: Michael and Robert Sammarco. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Elise Sammarco; his daughters: Amy Carvalho and her husband, Thomas; and Erin Sammarco-Hurd, and her husband, Kevin; grandchildren: Anthony Carvalho, Mallory Carvalho, Ian Sammarco, Desirae Loso, and Zachary Hurd; siblings: Peter Sammardo and his wife, Gail; Paul Sammarco, and Carolyn Sammarco; brother-in-law, Mark Messier; and sister-in-law, Jeanne Messier.
