Louise Josephine Sierras

Louise Josephine (Josie) Medina Sierras was born October 16, 1944 in Richmond, California and passed away on June 1, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada after a short, but fierce, battle with cancer. Her final moments were spent peacefully surrounded by family.

Josie was one of 12 children and was known as being the glue of the Medina family who kept all the siblings in contact with one another. Family was most important to Josie and was a great source of pride to her.

Josie was raised in Chama, New Mexico. Those who grew up with her became part of her family. She was often referred to as the Chama Wikipedia for her ability to keep up on all things Chama. Chama remained her favorite vacation spot throughout her life.

Josie worked as a Hotel Operator for 25 years at the Tropicana Hotel. Co-workers remember her as always being fun and the person that made them happy to come to work. She met and socialized with everyone from the porter to the president.

Josie is survived by her son, Benjamin, (son Arthur preceded her in death), brothers Gilbert, Dennis, Sam and Raymond Medina, sisters Mary Gallegos and Carol Montoya, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren, who she fondly called her “Jewels.” Josie was deeply loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on June 30, 2023 at Palm Mortuary, 800 S Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015
