Mamie Lucia Christianson

Mamie Lucia Christianson, 85, of Henderson, Nevada, left this world on July 4th, 2026.

Mamie was born on January 5, 1941, in Macon, Georgia, to the late John Barton and Maggie Elizabeth Hancock. She spent her childhood in Georgia and graduated from North Clayton High School in College Park.

As a young woman, Mamie had a vibrant personality, known as the life of the party, and she had a warm spirit and infectious smile that drew others to her. On a blind date at a bowling alley, she met the love of her life, Floyd Christianson. They married February 11, 1962 and began a beautiful journey together that would span a lifetime.

As a proud military wife, Mamie embraced the adventures that came with U.S. Air Force life. Together she and Floyd raised their four children while traveling the world through various duty stations. Even after retirement, their love of travel continued as they explored new places and created lasting memories together.

Mamie found joy in many hobbies. In high school she enjoyed collecting earrings which, based on the size of her collection, she continued to collect throughout her life. She was an accomplished bowler who earned numerous trophies, enjoyed sewing, and playing cards with family and friends. Her devotion to Elvis began in high school with her favorite song “A Fool Such As I” and continued with attending his concerts in Las Vegas, where she and Floyd eventually retired. Retirement didn’t slow her down, as she was well known around the bingo parlors in Las Vegas. She enjoyed quilting which became her greatest passion. She lovingly hand-stitched years worth of beautiful quilts, each one a treasured gift that will continue to wrap her family and dear friends in the warmth of her love for generations to come.

As the second of seven children, she shared a special bond with her siblings. Together they created cherished memories, filled with laughter, love, and unwavering support. Mamie especially enjoyed the annual “sisters' weekends,” where much laughter and crazy antics occurred!

She was a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed. She leaves behind her children: Julie Christianson (Jodie), Susan Tipton (Steve), Randal Christianson (JoEllen), Charles Christianson; her grandsons: Brandon Tipton (Nayomi), Chandler Atchley, Stephen Christianson, William Christianson (Vanessa), and Nicholas Tipton, and her great-grandson: Noah Tipton.

In addition to her parents, Mamie was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Daniel Christianson; her brother John Barton Hancock, Jr.; and her sister Elizabeth Montine Joyner.

She is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Betty Brooks, Rose Dufour, Billie Mears (Greg); her brother, Jimmy Hancock; her sister-in-law Sandra Hancock; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by her kindness, laughter, and generous heart.

A family memorial service will be held on 08 October 2026. She will join her beloved husband, Floyd, at Arlington National Cemetery, in Arlington, Virginia.
