Marguerite Mary Holmes

Marguerite Mary Holmes, age 89, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021. Marguerite was born October 4, 1931 in San Diego, California to Edna Emma Beuhring and Edward Joseph Werne.

Judy Married the love of her life, Roland Holmes on June 18, 1955 at the First Conservative Baptist Church in La Pine, Oregon. Together the couple were blessed with four children: three sons: Roland, John and Mike; and one daughter, Cathy. Her children were her main job; but Marguerite would work odd jobs during the school year, so that she could take all summer off to take the family exploring.

Every summer, the family would travel in the motor home. The family had a summer cabin in Utah that they built to enjoy the green. They grew up living in California and Oregon; which was a summer get away for the young family for over 15 years. After Judy and Roland retired, they both traveled to Branson, Alaska and Oregon in their motorhome. Together they traveled to Zion, Grand Canyon, Bryce, San Diego Zoo, Disneyland, Yosemite, China, Europe, Alaska, Australia, Panama Canal, and Hawaii.

Besides traveling, Judy loved parades of every kind; never missing the Rose Parade. She enjoyed the zoo or any program with animals. She loved her fur babies: Brownie, a Terrier; Little Girl, a Yorkie; Lady; a Chihuahua; and her little Bandit. In her spare time, Judy loved word games of every kind, and photography.

Judy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She made friends easily and loved everyone. In addition to her family, she had two special friends or best friends Rose Wolfe and Arleta Holdenbrook (sister in law); whom she spent a lot of time with after the passing of their spouses.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Holmes; father, Edward Joseph Werne; mother, Edna Emma Beuhring; son, Roland Holmes; and son-in-law, Doug Miller. She is survived by her sons: John Holmes (Loretta) and Mike Holmes (Alveana); daughter, Cathy Miller; and grandson Jonathan Holmes.

A visitation for Marguerite will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will be Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM both at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. She will be laid to rest following at Palm Henderson Cemetery.
